The Chair of the University of Adelaide's Theatre Guild, is pleased to invite you to the special Opening Night performance of its first show for 2012 - a staged reading of Goethe's Faust (Part One), translated by David Luke.

 Event Details:

Thursday 29th March 2012
Time:
7:30pm - 9:30pm, followed by a post-show supper
Venue:
Little Theatre, University of Adelaide

The Board of the Theatre Guild will direct part proceeds of this performance to the Brian Coghlan Scholarship Appeal, a travel scholarship for students of German.

Professor Coghlan (Emeritus) had a highly respected and illustrious career with the Theatre Guild, first on its Board in 1954, as well as serving as Chair from 1984 - 1988.  Further to his contribution to the Arts, the Federal Republic awarded Professor Coghlan the prestigious Order of Merit in 1974 for his contribution to German language and literature, after making his mark nationally and internationally as one of Australia's best German scholars.

It is only fitting therefore, that a classic German play be chosen to honour Professor Coghlan and support the Scholarship fund which was set up by the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences in 2010 in honour of a great University of Adelaide alumnus.
